Easy Lovebird Toy You Can Make!
What’s the point of having lovebirds if they don’t have toys right? Store bought toys are not only expensive but in my opinion most of them are not well suited to lovebirds. Love birds like to chew but they have tiny beaks, if they can’t fit something in there it’s going to be well loved. So why not make your own? There are lots of materials that can be used, for this toy I used cardboard, straws, beads, and hemp cord. This toy is particularly good for young or baby lovebirds that haven’t developed a lot of strength in their beak yet.

Simply cut some scrap cardboard into small squares, these are about 1.5″ and cut some straws in pieces. Now you’ll need to poke holes into them so you can string them onto the hemp cord. Cut a piece of hemp cord, mine was about 17″, I wanted to be sure I had room to make a loop at the top. Tie a knot in the bottom of the cord and string some straw pieces on, then a bead and a piece of cardboard. Continue string a bead and a piece of cardboard until you have all that you want on there, finish by stringing the rest of your straw pieces. Wrap the other end of the hemp cord onto itself to make a loop, you can use just about anything as a hanger, I love the little plastic links.
Viola! Instant lovebird toy.
